Mount Ararat Mentoring Project

The Mount Ararat Mentoring Project (MAMP), in collaboration with Pittsburgh Public Schools, is designed to support students in achieving academic success while strengthening social skills, increasing school engagement, and encouraging positive long-term outcomes. The program takes a holistic approach to mentoring, focusing on the personal, academic, and social development of each participant to help students reach their full potential.

MAMP utilizes the Teach, Empower, Affirm, Mentor (T.E.A.M.) curriculum to provide structured, intentional support for students. This evidence-informed framework allows mentors to address risk factors, promote positive decision-making, and foster resilience. Through mentoring relationships, targeted programming, and community partnerships, participants are supported in developing academic competencies, strengthening character, nurturing spiritual growth, and identifying personal goals while gaining the skills needed to work toward their achievement.

The program is strengthened through partnerships with higher education institutions, workforce development organizations, and community agencies, creating meaningful pathways for educational exploration, career readiness, and employment opportunities. Mentors also receive ongoing training to ensure high-quality guidance and support. Enrichment experiences, including educational and cultural travel opportunities, further broaden students’ perspectives by exposing them to colleges and universities, historical landmarks, and culturally significant institutions.

MAMP is held on Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at MACAC.

PDA offers students a wide range of college and career readiness experiences, including college tours, standardized test preparation, study skills development, and guidance on navigating the college admissions and financial aid processes. Students also benefit from mentoring relationships with professionals who provide insight, encouragement, and real-world perspective as they plan for their future.

Through strategic partnerships with higher education institutions and workforce development organizations, PDA participants engage in hands-on learning experiences such as research projects and leadership development opportunities. The program also connects students to paid employment and experiential learning opportunities that promote financial literacy, responsibility, and career exploration. Educational travel and enrichment experiences further broaden students’ perspectives and reinforce the skills and confidence needed for long-term success.

PDA is held on Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at MACAC.
